Quieter and drier weather returns to New Mexico this week. Temperatures will climb back above normal starting Tuesday. Much drier weather has returned to New Mexico Monday, a welcomed relief to areas around Roswell after historic, and deadly flooding this weekend. This weekend's storm system has since moved into the central part of the country, bringing back drier westerly breezes into the state. This is also starting a warming trend today for most of the state. With the drier air in place, skies will stay clear overnight, allowing for another chilly start to the morning on Tuesday. A large area of high pressure will be developing this week across the southwestern part of the United State. This will keep dry and warmer weather around New Mexico all week long. High temperatures will be peak as much as 10° warmer than normal by Thursday afternoon. A weak backdoor cold front will move in Thursday night, bringing just a very slight cool down into Friday and Saturday, before temperatures start climbing again late this weekend. Dry weather is forecast for the entire state for the next seven days, but longer range models are hinting that another storm system could move into New Mexico a week from this Tuesday.
