Crews extinguish fire in northeast Albuquerque after "fireplace malfunction"

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Fire Rescue extinguished a structure fire at a residence in northeast Albuquerque Monday morning.

AFR was dispatched around 3 a.m. to a residence on El Vado Ct. NE after receiving reports of a structure fire. Fire crews arrived on scene and were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was fireplace malfunction, according to AFR. Officials are reminding residents to make sure fireplaces are in good working condition prior to starting fires in them.
