STILLWATER, Okla. (KFOR) - Dozens of volunteers headed out to a nonprofit's community garden to make it more accessible to everyone, thanks to an alcohol company that's footing the bill. "It'll be a major teamwork effort today," said Erik Avalos-Rivas, a volunteer. The Stillwater nonprofit offers many services, including a food pantry. "We're modeled like a small grocery store, but no one pays anything," said Rachael Condley, the executive director of Our Daily Bread. "We also get food from OSU, they have a student garden," said Mark Gregory, a volunteer of several years.   Outside the grocery store is a huge community garden. It's free and open to anyone wanting to harvest 24/7. "It's open always. It's not fenced in or locked up," said Condley. While everyone is welcome, not all can access the herbs and vegetables easily. The chunky mulch can be a challenge for those who may have a hard time getting around. It's an expensive fix. That's why Tito's Handmade Vodka stepped in, as part of its Block to Block program that focuses on community gardens. "Our local team here found Our Daily Bread and loved everything they do within they're organization," said Samantha Grobeski, the field sales manager for Tito's. Tito's and Our Daily Bread brought in a hefty number of volunteers to pack a new walkway made of decomposed granite, which looks like special soil. "When you pack it, it stays and it makes a flat surface so people that are in wheelchairs or using walkers or canes or have unsteady footing will be able to access all the way back of our garden and all the way across," said Condley. Gregory usually volunteers in the grocery store. Tuesday, he's putting the hammer to use instead. Meanwhile, other volunteers were busy building picnic tables, benches and another huge project. "We've been trying to figure out the pavilion over there. It's in a million pieces," said Avalos-Rivas. Condley said Tito's has put in almost $25,000 into the Tuesday project. Hours of hard work to lay down a foundation of nutrition, accessibility, and community.
