MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man was arrested and charged with murder after his mother's body was discovered in the backyard of Pepper Mill Lane home. Tevon Rose, 24, is charged with First Degree Murder, Abuse of a Corpse, Tampering with Evidence, and Resisting Official Detention. His bond has not been set. Tevon Rose (SCSO) Neighbors say that the shocking crime has been hard for them to process. Throughout Sunday night, blue lights illuminated a normally quiet Pepper Mill Lane in Southeast Shelby County. "I just come home to this this morning," neighbor Peggy Moore said. "I been out of town for the past ten days and this what I came home to." For most of Monday morning, the crime scene was still very active. Woman’s body found in wooded area; neighbors claim son responsible for her death A WREG reporter on the scene said that around 11:30 a.m. a team with the medical examiner's office left with what appeared to be a body and other evidence from the backyard. For Peggy Moore, it's been difficult for her to accept that the victim is her neighbor. "She would always get the neighbors, her family and friends to come (over)," Moore said. "We would just sit down and have a girl day out in the backyard." In addition to the get-togethers, Moore said that she and the victim were close for another reason. "I have a disabled son and that's what bonded us together," Moore said. Suspect in medical student’s death being held without bond Moore said that the victim's son is unstable and had threatened his mother more than once. "She went through a lot with him," Moore said. "He's schizophrenic. She would barricade herself in her house sometimes." Tevon Rose is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. In the past, he'd been charged with stalking, intimidation, vandalism and trespass stemming from incidents that occurred in 2019.
