MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- It's no secret that it's been a busy first six months on the job for Memphis Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins. On Monday, the MSCS school board members decided that they would stick with their current superintendent evaluation plan rather than transition to a different one that had been proposed by the board. This comes after an informal meeting on Monday where board members talked about the metrics and percentages of the evaluations. With the current plan, student achievement makes up 30 percent and staff relations makes up 15 percent of the evaluation. MSCS school board, Superintendent at odds over evaluation rubric Had the proposed change been approved, it would have increased staff relations to 20 percent and student achievement would have dropped to 25 percent. The board members also discussed how informal, individual evaluations with each board member would be held before the end of November. WREG tried to speak with Dr. Feagins on her way to a meeting but was unsuccessful. The group will be meeting again Tuesday to discuss the process at the next board meeting.
