WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — After a lot of drama just a few weeks ago, people in West Memphis, Arkansas are early voting in the city.  In fact, the city went from no voting sites to two. Last week, the Arkansas Supreme Court ruled early voting must happen at two West Memphis churches, the Seventh Street Church of Christ and the First Baptist Church. The court ruling comes after claims of voter suppression following the Crittenden County Election Commission's decision not to have any early voting locations in the city, but in the town of Marion. "It allows those of us who want to get out and early vote to do so. I just think it's a good thing," said Torrae Brown, a West Memphis voter. Arkansas Supreme Court ruling means 2 early vote sites in West Memphis So many people showed up for early voting that additional voting machines had to be brought in as they decide the fate of several key issues. "Me being a senior citizen, I don't have to worry about that long line ... and pushing and shoving," Kathleen Williams said.                              Mayor Marco McClendon says this issue was bigger than partisan politics.         "It's definitely a victory for voting rights because I have Republican friends as mayor, Democratic friends, Independent friends and Republicans didn't want to have to go out the city to vote either. They felt they should vote in West Memphis," McClendon said. "West Memphis has a very important referendum on the ballot for a new police station, a new fire station, quality of life, recreation center, aquatic center and infrastructure work. Whether approved or not, voters say they're just happy to vote early, close to home. Early voting across the entire state of Arkansas kicked off Monday and will be held until the day before Election Day.
