After a glorious weekend of weather across Central and Eastern Kentucky with abundant sunshine and afternoon highs in the mid-70s, we saw more of the same to kick off the new work week. With high pressure in control it was a delightful Monday with more sunshine and afternoon highs back into the mid to upper 70s, which is a few degrees above average for this time of the year With all the sunny days lately the fall colors are really popping nicely and that should continue to be the case heading toward the end of the month. Another delightful day is in store for the area Tuesday as the area of high pressure sits off to our east. With more sunshine and a south wind in place, afternoon highs should climb all the way into the upper 70s across the board so it should feel fantastic to be out and about. With temperatures around 10 degrees above seasonal norms try to spend some time outdoors as we’ll see a slight change in the quiet weather pattern through the mid and late week. It will be a bit on the breeze side the next few days with wind gusts around 20 miles per hour at times. A frontal boundary will slide through the Ohio Valley late Wednesday but with so little moisture around, our shower chances will be minimal. The only impact should be a drop in temperatures as the front brings a slightly cooler air-mass into the commonwealth. Highs should be in the upper 70s ahead of the front on Wednesday but only recover into the mid-60s Thursday as winds shift around to the northwest. It should be a bit of a rollercoaster ride with our temperatures late week and into the weekend as a wave of low pressure and another frontal boundary move in from the west. Temperatures should rebound nicely on Friday as a southwest flow kicks in ahead of the front pushing highs back into the mid-70s. There is a little better chance of a few scattered showers late Friday and into Saturday morning with the wave of energy just to our north. This system should clear out pretty quickly, leaving us with cooler temperatures over the weekend as highs back down into the low to mid-60s. It should be a pleasantly cool evening as the Cats return home to Kroger Field to take on Auburn this Saturday evening. ABC 36 HOUR FORECAST MONDAY NIGHT: Clear skies, pleasantly cool.
