KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The FBI says a man armed with a handgun robbed a Hawthorn Bank branch in Independence on Monday morning, and agents are trying to track him down. The FBI says this happened just after 10:30 a.m. at a branch on East 39th Street S., at an intersection with S. Crackerneck Road, just west of 291 Highway. KHP trooper warns of ‘tire gator’ danger on Kansas highways Investigators describe the suspect as an older white man with short grey hair, a black leather jacket with patches, dark pants, grey sneakers, a dark head covering, and he was wearing a blue surgical mask during the robbery. They say he's between 5'6" and 5'8". He left the scene on a blue sports bike, the FBI didn't say how much money he took.
