INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts continued to have issues with Lucas Oil Stadium's roof over the weekend. In a post on X on Sunday, team owner Jim Irsay reported that Lucas Oil Stadium's roof would be closed during the Colts' game against the Miami Dolphins. Irsay wrote that the roof was closed "due to operational issues." Lucas Oil Stadium's window was open during the contest, but Irsay still apologized to fans, calling the venue's roof problems "very disappointing." In a statement, venue officials reported that a "software glitch" was the reason the roof was not open during Sunday's game. The Indiana Business Journal previously reported that Lucas Oil Stadium's roof had trouble opening before the Colts' preseason-opener against the Broncos in August. In its report, the IBJ indicated the issues with Lucas Oil Stadium's roof had been resolved. In their statement on Monday, venue officials called the software glitch that impacted the stadium's roof on Sunday "similar to what we experienced in the preseason." Lucas Oil Stadium officials also indicated that the venue's roof systems will be upgraded in January. They hope the upgrade will help prevent further problems with the stadium's roof. "We want the fans to know that we worked with Uni-Systems Engineering, who is the roof manufacturer and our maintenance vendor, and our tradesmen and women 24 hours a day every day over the last week to diagnose and resolve the specific issues that caused us to not be able to open both sides of the roof," the statement read. "Although the window was open, we are disappointed that we were not able to have the roof open, and we apologize to the fans. The Colts have had problems with Lucas Oil Stadium's roof before. In 2015, a bolt fell from the roof and injured three people. Later that same year, the Colts completed repair work on the roof to make it "suitable to operate without restrictions." In November 2017, the roof was stuck open after a Colts game. Read the full statement officials provided on Lucas Oil Stadium's most recent roof problems below: Regarding the roof not being open yesterday, the challenge was a communication software glitch similar to what we experienced in the preseason.  We are working with our maintenance vendor to make that fix and determine whether there are other issues.   Looking longer term, our system upgrade for roof operation is scheduled for January, which should allow us to avoid these types of issues in the future. We want the fans to know that we worked with Uni-Systems Engineering, who is the roof manufacturer and our maintenance vendor, and our tradesmen and women 24 hours a day every day over the last week to diagnose and resolve the specific issues that caused us to not be able to open both sides of the roof.  Although the window was open, we are disappointed that we were not able to have the roof open, and we apologize to the fans.
