Carson City School District Last week, student-athletes from Carson and Eagle Valley Middle Schools braved the wintery elements and swept the top spots at the Tah-Neva League Cross Country Championships at Kahle Park in South Lake Tahoe, bringing home a few trophies, several medals and numerous smiles. And with the recent success and State Championships of the Carson High School cross country team, Carson City is proving to be a distance running powerhouse. With only five scoring runners, four of whom finished in the top 10, Eagle Valley Middle School eighth-grade girls were able to secure first place in the Large School Division of the Tah-Neva League Championships. Five runners are the minimum in which to score points and have a chance of winning an overall championship. Runners included Samantha Ingram (2nd), Sydney Heyder (3rd), Gracie Shane (6th), Aliyah Heyder (9th) and Lillian Guzzetta (49th). Carson Middle School eighth-grade boys secured second place in the Large School Division of the Tah-Neva League Championships with one runner placing in the top-10. Runners included Zack Ponczoch (6th), Keev Redick (23rd), Kolbe Clapham (24th), Daniel Walther (26th), Spencer Boholst (27th), Tyler Hager (42nd), Bobby McFadden (45th), Weston Pope (52nd), Evan Benshoof (56th) and Sullivan Boehmer (58th). Carson Middle School eighth-grade girls also secured second place in the Large School Division of the Tah-Neva League Championships with two runners placing in the top-10. Runners included Zoe Theilen (4th), Sasha Sulprizo (8th), Miley Jimenez (19th), Scarlet Harrison (20th), Khaia Whiteman (21st), Aninka Williams (35th), Alma Gomez-Barrios (36th), Adeline Jensick (38th) and Valerie Olsen (39th).
