Buffalo father and son sentenced for manslaughter

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Buffalo father and son were sentenced Monday morning for physically assaulting and causing the death of a man in 2022, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.
40-year-old Christopher Busby and his son, 21-year-old Daiquan Busby, pleaded guilty to manslaughter after allegedly assaulting 25-year-old Mikhail Scott inside an apartment building on the 100 block of Rodney Street on Dec. 17. The two, along with 24-year-old Lewis Keys, allegedly punched, kicked and dragged Scott down the stairs.
Scott died from his injuries at ECMC after being transported there by ambulance. The official cause of death was found to be blunt force trauma to the head.
Keys is currently serving a determinate sentence of eight years in prison as well as five years of post-release supervision.
Christopher was sentenced to five years in prison for first-degree manslaughter. Daiquan was sentenced to 7 1/2 years. They will both receive five years of post-release supervision.
