BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Mississippi suspect was arrested after robbing a Baton Rouge man at gunpoint in a hotel room. Travis White, 41, of Natchez, MS, was arrested on charges of armed robbery; use a of firearm and theft of a motor vehicle on Oct. 18, 2024. Police said in June 2021, a victim was using the Skout dating app when he met a woman named "Trina." White reportedly identified as a woman on the dating app. Operating as Trina, White told the victim he would be in Baton Rouge on June 13, 2021. The victim and White met at a motel located on Florida Boulevard around 11 a.m. on June 13. Police learned that the victim and White were talking inside the hotel room. White exited the room to take a phone call. When White entered the room, they pointed a gun at the victim, forcing him to remove his pants. On his person, the victim had about $150 in cash. White stole the victim's money and his car as well. According to an affidavit, White was arrested on June 20 in DeSoto County, MS, for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. White told authorities he got the car from the victim. On June 24, detectives asked the victim to identify "Trina" in a six-person lineup, where he was able to identify White as "Trina." Baton Rouge man arrested, accused of shooting man after fight on Highland Road White was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. No bond amount has been set, according to jail records.
