City of Bakersfield asking for feedback on how it should spend $25M in federal housing, economic development funding

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The City of Bakersfield is hosting several meetings this week asking residents and community members how it should make use of millions in federal funding.
The meetings are for the public to give feedback on the City of Bakersfield's Consolidated Plan and how to use $25 million in funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development over the next five years.
Supervisor Leticia Perez under investigation for alleged use of county resources for political purposes
Meetings are scheduled for Oct. 22 and Oct. 23.
Meeting times:
Oct. 22 - 10 a.m. - noon. Online via Zoom.
Oct. 22 - 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Baker Street Community Room located at 1105 Baker St.
Oct. 23 - 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. - at Bakersfield Senior Center located at 503 4th St.
City officials said the funding is primarily spent in low- and moderate-income communities for improvements to infrastructure, homeless prevention services, affordable housing and economic development.
