WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio (WCMH) -- After three long years, Patty Mayonnaise has been reunited with her owner. Dog Patty was found roaming a roadside in Fayette County by a good Samaritan. She was taken to the Fayette Regional Humane Society and when a scan found a microchip, the organization was able to contact her owner, who lived in Indiana. Patty's owner said the dog was stolen from her home in Indianapolis. It's unknown how or why Patty made it to Ohio, but the Humane Society said her story is an important reminder about having your pets microchipped. "Microchips make all the difference when it comes to reuniting lost pets with their families, no matter how far they may have wandered," the organization wrote in a Facebook post. "After three long years apart, Patty and her owner are finally back together, and we couldn't be happier to have been part of this joyful moment!" According to Patty's owner, the dog recognizes her and is relaxing at home.
