CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield Superior Court Judge Francis "Frank" Flannery died this past weekend and many officials are taking to social media to share their condolences. Judge Flannery was an associate justice for the Massachusetts Superior Court. He was nominated to the court by Governor Charlie Baker on July 25, 2018, and was unanimously confirmed by the Governor's Council about a month later. He served as the first assistant district attorney at the Hampden County District Attorney's Office and the Northwestern District Attorney's Office as an assistant district attorney. Sheriff Nick Cocchi and the Hampden County Sheriff's Office shared their condolences with Flannery's family, friends, and colleagues mentioning Judge Flannery presided over some of the most notable criminal and civil cases in western Massachusetts over the past six years, and he was known for being firm, but fair. Hampden County Sheriff's Office stated, “Judge Flannery presided over some of the most notable criminal and civil cases in Western Massachusetts over the past six years, and he was known for being firm, but fair,” Sheriff Cocchi said. “He was highly regarded by everyone who knew him and will be missed.
