WAREHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — A police officer was seriously injured in an ATV accident over the weekend in New Hampshire. According to New Hampshire Fish and Game, 25-year-old Lindsey Vermette from Wareham was injured in a single-vehicle ATV crash. NH Fish and Game responded around 3:15 p.m. to Alpha Trail in Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin on Saturday. According to officials, Vermette had rolled the ATV over onto herself in a particularly “rocky section of trail” and was pinned underneath. Other members of Vermette’s riding party removed the ATV and called 911. Before the arrival of rescue personnel, members of her riding party decided to put Vermette in a UTV and drive her from the scene. Officials said Vermette was driven to a waiting ambulance and transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for treatment of unknown injuries. Vermette is an experienced rider and did have on appropriate riding gear to include a helmet and goggles, according to officials. Vermette is a current member of the Wareham Police Department.
