Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Baton Rouge man is in police custody on accusations of soliciting a minor for sexual activity. In collaboration with the FBI, on Sept. 27, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into 33-year-old Joel Champagne in connection to the solicitation allegation. Decomposed body found in Mid-City classified a homicide The investigation revealed that on Oct. 17, Champagne allegedly traveled from Baton Rouge to St. Tammany Parish intending to meet and engage in sexual activity with a 14-year-old. Champagne was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on charges of computer-aided solicitation with a minor and indecent behavior with juveniles. The investigation is ongoing.
