MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man who was on the run is now in police custody after he allegedly bit an officer and choked a K9. Around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a domestic call in the 2300 block of Elvis Presley Boulevard. Tommie Williams, who was wanted on felony warrants, allegedly jumped a fence at the Elvis Presley Inn and ran into the woods behind New Hope Baptist Church. Memphis Police say Williams refused to cooperate and the K9 bit him in his right arm. MPD says Williams grabbed the K9 by his chain collar and started choking him. The K9 officer grabbed Williams, who then bit the officer on his right hand. Homeowner shot to death after confronting suspected burglars: SCSO Williams was taken into custody and transported to Regional One Hospital in non-critical condition. According to a police report, Tommie Williams, 31, was wanted on a felony warrant out of Mississippi for Aggravated Assault. He was charged with two counts of Assault Against a First Responder, Evading Arrest on Foot, and Resisting Official Detention. His bond has not been set.
