See developing story here. ***** MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A woman's body was found in a wooded area behind a home, Shelby County Sheriff's Office deputies say. At around 5:15 p.m., deputies were called to a home to conduct a welfare check and they discovered the body of an adult woman in a wooded area behind a backyard fence. A neighbor who spoke with WREG said that the woman was killed by her son and her body was burned and thrown in the wooded area behind the home. "I'm really disheartened to have to walk out of your house and see all of this. Because it's relatively, you know, a quiet street," the neighbor said. "Most of us know each other. We look out for each other. And I never thought that something like this would happen on my street." Neighbors said that around 10:40 Saturday night, they could actually see and smell the smoke. Initially, they thought someone had been cooking. SCSO identifies man arrested in connection to Shelby Farms shooting According to a family friend, someone came to the house to check on the woman and that's when the body was discovered. The neighbor said that the son had been in and out of jail and had been dealing with some mental health issues. SCSO has not confirmed the identities of the suspect and victim, nor their relationship with one another. However, they did say that someone has been detained and that this is an ongoing investigation. This story will be updated as new information becomes available.
