LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Kaela Walker, mother of three-month old Greyson Torres, was seen crying in court today as a detective detailed her son’s injuries which the coroner says ultimately led to his death. “Retinal hemorrhaging, had bleeding behind the eyes, swelling to the brain, multiple brain bleeds, a fracture to the left arm, I believe a finger on the right hand, and to one of his legs,” Detective Alex Epley said. The defense argued Walker was also a victim of domestic abuse at the hands of the baby’s father Amancio Torres-Trevino. “He got back in contact with her, he’s now abusing the child, what did you want her to do in that situation,” the defense asked. Walker filed an emergency protective order at the hospital before the detective said she ran away with Torres-Trevino leaving Greyson behind in the PICU where he later died. “My concern is that once Ms. Walker is safe in the hospital with her child, she did leave with Mr. Torres and try to flee,” the judge said. Both Walker and Torres-Trevino were arrested and charged in connection to Greyson’s death. Monday, Walker’s bond was lowered from $100,000 to $10,000 on the terms that she wears an electronic monitor and stays with her family. Torres-Trevino remains in custody as he waived his right to a preliminary hearing. His case was sent to the grand jury.
