CHARLOTTE, NC — Being a girl scout could soon cost you more.
The Girl Scouts of the USA are voting whether to raise membership dues from 25 dollars a year to 85 dollars a year – that’s a 240 percent hike per scout.
Membership dues are the organization’s largest source of revenue.
In 20-23…they generated 38 million dollars from nearly two million members.
The Girl Scouts have faced cash flow issues stemming from the pandemic, inflation, and changing consumer behaviors.
A girl scout spokesperson said the organization would continue to provide financial aid to any girl who needs it.
