BETHANY, Okla. (KFOR) — Birthdays are a special event and they only come once a year. One Navy veteran has had 100 birthdays and talked with News 4 about his life and the memories he'll always cherish. "I never thought I'd make it to 21, so I'm grateful that it's a hundred," said Jack Meyers, a 100-year-old veteran. "I ended up doing to a lot of different schools in the Navy, ended up in four engine patrol bombers. But I got into the tail, very tail end of World War Two," said Meyers. His time in the war is now remembered through photos. "It was a three pilot and nine crew members, I think, I'm one of these jokers here. That's me right there," said Meyers. Meyers grew up on a farm in Lahoma. He and his wife moved to Bethany in the late 60's and brought his 1963 pick up truck and his parent's 1917 Edison phonograph. The two were married for nearly 61 years before she passed. Their anniversary is just a day before Meyers' birthday. "My wife was wonderful. She worked at the telephone company 46 years. I would say she was steadily employed hahaha," said Meyers. At one hundred years old, Meyers is surrounded by family and friends. GOOD NEWS!: Woman throws housewarming party after local nonprofit, businesses save her home "To have a good friend like Eddie right there, he looks after me. he's probably 25 years younger than or more than I am, you know, I'm so blessed, really, am," said Meyers. "I've known Jack since I was probably eight years old. I'm 68, so. 60 years," said Meyers. So what's his secret to living to 100 years old? "I've tried to keep my waistline less than my inseam. When my wife and I were dating, she had two suits made for me and I can still wear one of them. Yeah, I got married in it," said Meyers.                Jack Meyers celebrated his birthday on Saturday with a big party surrounded by his family and friends.
