Homeowner shot to death after confronting suspected burglars: SCSO

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A shooting in southeast Shelby County left one person dead on Monday morning, according to the sheriff's office.
Shelby County Sheriff's deputies began working the scene at a home in the 7000 block of Cutter Mill Road just before 3 a.m. They say a man was taken to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.
The SCSO says the homeowner saw people attempting to break into a vehicle in his driveway. He opened the front door and yelled, and then he was shot numerous times.
A homicide investigation is underway in the area. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
