STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, no charges will be filed after a 76-year-old man dies in a crash in Statesville. The NCSHP responded to a crash on Old Mountain Road at Rumple Hill Drive in Iredell County around 9:20 a.m. on Sunday. Officials say the driver of a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling south on Old Mountain Road when he attempted to turn left onto Rumple Hill Drive. In doing so, the driver turned in front of a 2002 Ford Econoline van traveling northbound. Money, cell phones stolen at gunpoint from people at ‘skill cafe’ in Winston-Salem The driver of the Chevy, James Patrick Sheeham of Cornelius died at the scene. Officials say he was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Ford was treated for minor injuries on the scene. The initial investigation does not indicate impairment or speed to be contributing factors to the crash. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed for approximately three hours.
