PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A beautiful, warm and sunny work week is ahead in the Triad. A huge dome of high pressure will continue to dominate the eastern half of the country all week. It's a beautiful, clear day and a lovely way to start the work week! Whatever plans you may have to be outdoors, enjoy sunny skies with highs in the mid-70s.   Tonight is going to be clear during the evening hours, but some scattered clouds will seep into the southern Piedmont skies by daybreak.  Lows remain cool, in the mid-40s. The rest of the work week will be just like this. We will have sunny skies with highs in the mid-to upper-70s all week, which is 6 to 10° above normal. This weekend, a strong cold front is going to conquer persistent high pressure that has been locked over the eastern U.S.  Saturday, ahead of the front, highs will rise to near 80°.  By Saturday night, the front will be over the North Carolina coast, and cool, dry air is going to pour into the Piedmont.  Highs on Sunday are going to be in the mid-60s, which is below normal for a change.  While temperatures are going to change dramatically, we don't have any rain in the forecast. Tropical Storm Oscar Oscar rapidly intensified yesterday, becoming a Category 1 hurricane and slamming into the eastern tip of Cuba.  It diminished to a tropical storm once over land and will be almost stationary today, producing life-threatening rainfall over eastern Cuba and the southern Bahamas.  The 5 a.m. advisory indicated Oscar is a tropical storm, producing 50 mph winds with 65 mph wind gusts. Oscar will be slow to move offshore but is expected to maintain tropical storm strength until it moves back over water Tuesday morning.  From there, it will pick up a north-northeast motion, raking the Bahamas and heading out to sea by Wednesday morning.
