BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A new study revealed that Louisiana is one of the top 10 states in the United States with the highest decrease in police force.
High Rise Financial, a pre-settlement legal funding company, looked at data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, including employee data by job, state and year, according to a news release. They "then narrowed it down to police-related job titles," according to a news release.
A news release stated, "The total number of job titles for 2023 was then compared with corresponding data from 2022 to calculate the percentage change per state and determine which states have the lowest growth rates."
Report ranks Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport among the least safe cities in U.S.
Louisiana was ranked as the No. 5 US state with the highest decrease in police force. According to the study, Louisiana had a total growth rate of -5.22% between 2022 and 2023.
