ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Rochester police have recovered a long gun following a standoff outside of a store on Hudson Avenue Sunday night. Rochester police were patrolling the area around 7:55 p.m. when officers thought they saw a man entering a store near Pulaski and Peckham Street with a long gun. According to RPD, officers called for assistance and several people began to run out of the store and into a neighboring store during the initial response. Officers then safely escorted the remaining people out of the store. RPD says a gun was located inside of the store but there was no suspect found. According to RPD, the suspect inside was able to 'elude' the first officer on scene and get away during the initial response. Rochester police blocked off a portion of Hudson Avenue near Cleon Street along with several surrounding streets as dozens of officers surrounded the area. The scene has since been broken down and the area has re-opened. RPD is working to identify the suspect involved with this incident. There are currently no related arrests at this time, and no injuries have been reported. This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
