FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - An alleged DUI driver was arrested after rear-ending a vehicle, killing a man and sending others to the hospital just outside of Orange Cove Saturday night, the California Highway Patrol announced. According to CHP, just after 11 p.m. they responded to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Manning and Hill Avenues in Fresno County. Investigators determined a 24-year-old man was driving a Honda Civic eastbound on Manning Avenue, approaching a Honda Accord stopped at the posted stop sign. Officers report the Civic did not slow and rear-ended the Accord which immediately burst into flames. A female passenger was removed from the Accord and survived the crash with moderate to major injuries while the male driver unfortunately died in the car. CHP says a third vehicle was stopped on the opposite side of the intersection and was struck on the driver side by the Civic. The driver of the third vehicle suffered minor head injuries and the passenger had no visible injuries. Investigators report the three male passengers of the Civic sustained moderate to major injuries. Officers say the 24-year-old driver of the Civic sustained moderate injuries and was also found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and will be booked pending medical release.
