KANSAS CITY, MO. (KSNT) - Senior tight end Jared Casey accounted for 14 of KU football's 42 points on Saturday against Houston. And the Plainville, Kansas native did it on just two receptions for a total of five yards. The pair of scores against the Cougars were Casey's first touchdowns of the 2024 season. He joined K-Nation's Caroline Soro for a one-on-one interview postgame. "Someone called me the 'red zone warrior' in the locker room," Casey said, laughing. "We just had some plays drawn up in the red zone. We knew what they'd be in, and they just popped open at the right times." Saturday's win not only snapped a five-game losing streak, but also gave the Jayhawks their first Big 12 win of the season. Casey said losing games 'got old pretty quick' for KU, with the win breathing new life into KU's locker room. "We knew we needed this one," Casey said. "We really need to carry this momentum, this drive, this 'want to' into next week because [K-State's] going to be ready for us." KU meets K-State in the Sunflower Showdown in Manhattan on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. The full interview with Casey aired in Sunday's episode of K-Nation, and can be watched above.
