Showers and storms across New Mexico have been less active than yesterday. However, severe thunderstorms are still a possibility in eastern New Mexico. Rain has continued across New Mexico today. Central, northern, and eastern New Mexico have see isolated to scattered storms that carried over from last night. Earlier this evening we saw the heaviest rainfall in the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez mountains. A few severe thunderstorm warnings have appeared along the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. There is a continued risk for flooding in the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar Area. Roswell and Chaves County may see more rainfall tonight, but it should be much less than yesterday. There is a model disagreement regarding how much more rain Roswell can expect. One model is leaning towards Roswell staying dry tonight. A few others are showing the possibility of another inch or two. In the meantime the Flood Warning remains in place for portions of Central Chaves County until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday October 20th. The low pressure system responsible for the rain yesterday and today is moving away from New Mexico. By Tuesday, this low will be over the Midwest. At the same time a High pressure ridge is forming over New Mexico. This will cause most of the rain to dry out. Leaving only a few isolated storms in northeast New Mexico on Monday.
