BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — 83% -- the Administration for Native Americans says that 83% of Native American men and women have experienced some form of violence in their lifetime. That's more than four in five. And activists say it's about time that we start to do more than just talk about it -- we need to walk for it as well. This Tuesday, Native, Inc. will be hosting its Domestic Violence Awareness Walk in the capital city. Native, Inc. is a nonprofit based in Bismarck. They look to provide Native Americans facing social, cultural, and economic struggles with opportunities to succeed. And their goal for this walk? To educate people on domestic violence in Native American communities and beyond. It's also a chance for survivors to build connections and feel a sense of community. The walk will take place at 2403 East Thayer Avenue in Bismarck on October 22 and runs from 4 PM to 6 PM. All are welcome to attend and are encouraged to wear purple to show support for survivors of domestic violence.
