Photo by Kevin Sabitus/Getty Images Aidan Hutchinson published a video on social media, thanking fans and updating his rehabilitation progress: “I’m doing great.” Aidan Hutchinson was the early frontrunner for 2024 Defensive Player of the Year honors, when a brutal injury in Week 6 ended ended his season—even though there are some reports he could return for the Super Bowl. Hutchinson suffered a fractured tibia and fibula, had successful surgery in Dallas, and returned home the following day. “Surgery went great, which is all good news,” Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell updated the media on Monday. “I kind of mentioned this yesterday, but man, Hutch is a captain for us, a highly productive player, great teammate, does everything right, and was having one hell of a game, one hell of a season. And so, look, it hurts. It hurts to lose somebody like him. Not only the player but the person that’s in that locker room and the leader that he is.” Since then, there have not been any updates on his recovery or status, but on Sunday night, following the Lions 31-29 win over the Minnesota Vikings, Hutchinson posted a video on Social media—via his House of Hutch Facebook reels page—with the following message: “What’s up y’all? We are one week out from surgery,” Hutchinson said. “The first days were a little rough, but now we are on the road to recovery and just attacking each day. And I want to thank all the kids, who made me the videos. I want to thank all my teammates, all the fans, all the support all over social media. It’s been amazing. And I’m doing great, just pushing through. Got to see the Lions win today. It’s a big win. So happy for them and we’re going to keep pushing, and just keep taking this thing day by day.” Hutchinson appears in good spirits—even posting a picture of his new “game day” experience on Instagram (below)—and while his path back to the field could be 4-6 months in the making, things appear to be progressing in a positive manner.
