(KRON) -- A car fire Sunday afternoon on I-580 in Castro Valley spread to nearby vegetation, according to the Alameda County Fire Department. Officials said a vegetation fire started at 2:45 p.m. on the westbound lanes of the highway in the area of Eden Canyon and Palomares Road. As of 3:30 p.m., forward progress has been stopped. The fire was listed at three acres. Video (above) shows flames and smoke that appeared to have emanated from the car fire.
