Most of the seedings held as the Colonial Valley Conference Boys’ Soccer Tournament heads to its quarterfinal round Monday. Tenth-seeded Trenton High was the only lower seed to advance from Saturday’s first-round action after the Tornadoes defeated seventh-seeded Hightstown, 3-0. That means head coach Anthony Carsella’s 8-7-1 squad will head to second-seeded Princeton (11-2-3) Monday for a 2 p.m. game. Sixth-seeded Lawrence (9-7-2) survived a penalty-kick shootout with 11th-seeded Allentown and will now get to play third-seeded Steinert (which held off 14th-seeded Hamilton West, 1-0, to improve to 12-2-3) at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Eighth-seeded West Windsor-Plainsboro South (5-8-1) will give top-seeded Robbinsville its first test at 4 p.m. Head coach Jeff Fisher’s 14-0-2 Ravens had a first-round bye under the new tournament’s format. Fifth-seeded Hopewell Valley (8-8-1) will wrap up Monday’s quarterfinal action with a showdown at fourth-seeded Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. at Mike Perone Field. Monday’s winners advance to Thursday’s 5 and 7 p.m. semifinal games at Hopewell Valley High’s Ackerson Field. The first CVCT boys’ soccer championship game is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, also at Ackerson Field.
