After working tirelessly to make sure he could be on the field, veteran running back Aaron Jones was active for the Vikings on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium. His status was up in the air heading into the pivotal matchup with the Detroit Lions. He suffered a hamstring injury on Oct. 6 while the Vikings were playing the New York Jets in London, and while he was originally viewed as a long shot to play against the Lions, he starte trending in the right direction over the past 72 hours. Frankly, the fact that that Jones was was available for the Vikings was a testament how seriously he took the recovery process. He spent the bye week at TCO Performance Center rehabbing his hamstring injury, trying from massages to acupuncture in search of a remedy that made him feel better. The presence of Jones will be a major boost for the Vikings on offense. Everything functions better with Jones in the mix as he’s capable of gaining chunks of yardage on the ground and catching passes out of the backfield. The inactives for the Vikings included linebacker Blake Cashman, cornerback Akayleb Evans, running back Myles Gaskin, left tackle Walter Rouse, cornerback Dwight McGlothern, defensive tackle Levi Drake Rodriguez, and quarterback Brett Rypien.
