STATESVILLE, N.C. – A 19-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a logging truck in Statesville on Saturday morning, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
It happened around 11 a.m. on NC 115 near Ella Kay Lane.
Troopers say a Honda motorcycle attempted to pass a Chevrolet logging truck that was making a left into the Progressive Power Equipment & Landscape parking lot.
The motorcyclist, 19-year-old Keaton McGlamery, struck a log extending off the back of the trailer and was ejected.
McGlamery was pronounced dead at the scene. The logging truck driver, 67-year-old Floyd Osborne, was not injured.
The preliminary investigation indicates that McGlamery was attempting to pass in a no-passing zone and was traveling at an excessive speed.
No charges will be filed in this case, the highway patrol said.
