Tonight, temperatures will fall quickly after sunset under a starry sky. Some areas will see the 30s again, while closer to the Beltway and Bay, the thermometer should remain in the mid-40s to near 50. While patchy frost is possible in some locations where the growing season is active, it will be isolated. The forecast for Sunday and Monday shows few changes, as sunshine and mainly clear skies at night will continue. The only slight change is gradual warming, as temperatures will average a couple of degrees above normal each day through Monday, when a few locations could push 80 degrees. Dry weather will remain in the DMV through Wednesday as temperatures climb well into the 70s to near 80 on Tuesday and stay in the 70s on Wednesday, but by Wednesday night, a strong cold front will head in our direction. This front will only bring a slight chance for showers to parts of the area Wednesday night into early Thursday, but you should feel a definite temperature change coming by Thursday afternoon. Daytime high temperatures on Thursday will be roughly 15 degrees cooler than ahead of the front. Cooler air will stick around on Friday behind the front, with highs only reaching the lower to middle 60s, and the area will return to seeing dry weather. Tropics: The Caribbean and SW Atlantic remain active, with two named storms being seen today. Thankfully, neither Nadine nor Oscar will impact the United States, but hurricane season still has another month and a half to go. The one storm being watched by the SE states is Oscar, and only for rough seas. Oscar is now a category one hurricane but could strengthen to a category three over the next 24-48 hours in the Bahama Island chain and then out into the central Atlantic Ocean, causing problems for shipping lanes. 7-Day Forecast: Tonight: Mostly clear skies with lows in the upper 30s to mid-40s. Sunday: Sunny skies with highs in the 70s and lows will be in the 40s to around 50 degrees. Winds: NW 6 mph. Monday: Sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Winds: NW 6 mph. Tuesday: Sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s and possibly in the 80s with lows in the 40s and 50s. Wednesday: Clouds will increase overnight, and there is a chance of late rain. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s, and lows will be in the 40s and 50s. Thursday: There will be early clouds, but it will then become mostly sunny. Highs will be in the 60s, and lows in the 40s. Winds will be NW 5-15 mph, with Gusts 25-30 mph. Friday: Partly cloudy skies with highs in the low to mid-60s and lows in the 30s and 40s. Saturday: Variably cloudy skies with an isolated shower/sprinkle. Highs in the mid-60s.
