Daniel Dunn-Imagn Images Jamaree Bouyea, Brandon Boston Jr. and Malaky Flynn were the last cuts and now the roster is set. The Spurs announced their opening night roster. After finishing preseason they awarded Riley Minix their last two-way spot and waived Malachi Flynn, Brandon Boston Jr. and Jamaree Bouyea to get their roster to 15 regular contracts and three two-way deals. There were no big surprises. Minix arguably performed the best out of all the players on training camp deals and his size and shooting ability made him the best choice to join David Duke Jr. and Harrison Ingram as a two-way player. He’ll likely spend most of his time in the G League. After making the decision, the Spurs waived Flynn, Bouyea and Boston Jr. to get to the roster limit before the start of the regular season. They are all now unrestricted free agents. The decision to waive Bouyea after signing him only a day prior might seem strange but the idea behind the move was to keep him in Austin. Bouyea, who played a big role in Summer League but was waived before training camp started, returned on an offseason deal before being cut again hours later. The Austin Spurs have the rights to the veteran guard and since he was on an Exhibit 10 deal, he can now earn a bonus if he spends 60 days with the G League affiliate instead of signing elsewhere. Here’s the Spurs’ opening night roster Here’s how the Spurs’ depth chart will likely look like on opening night PG: Chris Paul - Tre Jones - Blake Wesley SG: Devin Vassell - Stephon Castle - Malaki Branham - David Duke Jr.* SF: Harrison Barnes - Julian Champagnie - Sidy Cissoko - Harrison Ingram* PF: Jeremy Sochan - Keldon Johnson - Sandro Mamukelashvili - Riley Minix* C: Victor Wembanyama - Zach Collins - Charles Bassey *Two-way contract The Spurs will make their regular season debut on Oct. 24 against the Mavericks in Dallas.
