CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) -- Currituck and Camden Counties have hired a full-time employee to assist military veterans with accessing beneficial resources and services. Robert Cain stepped into his new role as Veteran Services Officer on Oct. 9. He will be tasked with identifying benefits and resources for veterans and their dependents. These benefits and resources include: pensions, compensations, medical services, rehabilitation training, education and home loans, and death benefits. “This position is an exciting new chapter in the lives of both Camden and Currituck County’s veterans. This partnership will help to ensure that our veterans get the physical, mental and financial benefits that they have earned,” said Selina Jarvis, Currituck County Commissioner. “The guidance that a Veteran Services Officer provides brings benefits not only to the veteran and their family, but to the community at-large. A 20 year veteran of the Coast Guard, Cain holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology from Thomas Edison State University. He most recently served as Training and Development Manager for the USCG Aviation Technical Training Center in Elizabeth City. Cain will have an office in both counties, the Currituck office is located in the Historic Courthouse and the Camden office is in the Camden County Library.
