COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WANE) — Skeletons took over downtown Columbia City today at the Whitley County Skeleton Festival. The festival featured over 50 vendors, a street festival, chili cook off, raffles, a live band and more. Prizes were given out to businesses and residents for the best decorated skeleton in town. Proceeds from the event went to benefit the 88 Foundation, a non-profit organization raising awareness to the issue of teen suicide. The 88 Foundation is locally run by Columbia City High School students. The non-profit was founded by a group of teens after they loss their friend to suicide. Organizers say they had several donations to the cause. The event turned out so well that they plan to make this an annual festival in Columbia City. For more about the 88 Foundation click here.
