Southern University football defeats Alcorn State, 2414

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Southern University Jaguars hosted the Alcorn State University Braves for their homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 19. The Jaguars defeated the Braves, 24-14.
The Braves got on the board first after Tavarious Griffin's 64-yard rushing touchdown gave Alcorn State a 7-0 lead with 3:34 left in the first quarter. Southern tied the game at 7-7 with 11:04 remaining in the second quarter after Noah Bodden's 15-yard rushing touchdown.
Bodden found Datraveon Brown for a 37-yard touchdown to give Southern their first lead of the game, 14-7, with 5:12 to go in the second quarter. The Braves tied the game at 14-14 just before the half as Xzavier Vaughn ran it in for an eight-yard touchdown.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Jaguars re-took the lead, 17-14, after Joshua Griffin made a 39-yard field goal with 6:50 remaining. Kendric Rhymes' rushing touchdown extended Southern's lead to 24-14 with 2:42 to go.
Southern will be back in action at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 as they take on the Florida A&M University Rattlers in Tallahassee, Florida.
