CENTRAL NEW YORK – Though it is the defending champion, the Baldwinsville boys soccer team will not be favored by too many to repeat its Section III and regional Class AAA titles of a season ago. Still, the Bees are, at its peak, a difficult opponent to contain, something Henninger found out about Tuesday night, especially in the second half. Six goals in those final 40 minutes was the best of the season so far for B’ville, leading to an 8-1 victory as Will Stevens, with two goals and an assist, led a well-balanced attack. Aidan Holcomb and Michael Sacco each had one goal and one assist. Tamer Abraham and Jack Dutter scored, too, with Nick Sacco, Owen Daly and Lucas Corbett also earning assists. It was much the same on Thursday, B’ville bashing Corcoran ITC 10-0 as it reached double digits for the first time this season and ran its season total to 18. Though it got half that offense Friday against Henninger, the Bees still won big, 5-0, with Holcomb’s goal and assist leading an offense where Stevens, Michael Sacco and Nick Sacco also converted and Dutter picked up an assist. Saturday’s regular-season finale against Cicero-North Syracuse was, for certain, a far tougher assignment, even though the Bees had blanked the Northstars 4-0 when they met exactly one week earlier. Still, playing for the fourth time in six days and third time in a span of less than 48 hours B’ville managed to put enough together to squeak out a 1-0 victory over the Northstars to finish its regular season at 9-6-1. When Dutter put in an unassisted first-half goal, it managed to hold up the rest of the way thanks to a tough defense that protected the net well and, when it didn’t, Sawyer Barr was able to record six saves for the shutout. B’ville’s girls soccer team roared to its own 4-0 win over Liverpool Tuesday night at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium to improve its overall record to 11-3. What was a close contest most of the night broke open with B’ville scoring three times in the second half, led by Beverly Marinelli, who had her first two-goal varsity outing. Audra Salvagni and Natalie Hollingshead joined in for goals, too, with Nadia Guzman and Naomi Locke each getting an assists. Abby DeSimone turned back all four shots she faced. Then, in Saturday’s game against Fayetteville-Manlius (whom it beat 3-2 two weeks earlier), again it proved close – but this time without a decision. The Bees and Hornets played to a 1-1 draw, with B’ville going in front in the first half only to see Una Vlasak tie it for F-M in the second half off a feed from Ashley Seidberg. Neither side could score in the 20 minutes of overtime.
