(KNWA/KFTA) — More than 500 varieties of frozen waffles sold across the United States and Canada are being recalled due to possible listeria contamination, the FDA announced on Friday. Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems, the FDA said. When it comes to listeria contamination, healthy individuals may only have short-term symptoms, including high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. The FDA also said a listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The FDA said the issue was found during routine testing at the manufacturing facility. Customers should check their freezers for any of the products listed above and either throw them away or return them to where they were purchased for a refund.
