A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center will open Sunday in Morganton to help people and businesses that were impacted by Hurricane Helene. The Disaster Recovery Center officially opens at 8 a.m. on Sunday, October 20th and will remain open until further notice. It is located at Foothills Higher Education Center off South Sterling Street. “We urge those affected by the storm to visit the Disaster Recovery Center,” Burke County Emergency Management Director Michael Willis said. “This is an essential resource for our community, offering guidance and aid to help people recover and rebuild.” The center will offer key services to disaster recovery, including: Assistance with FEMA disaster relief applications, even if previously declined Information on local, state, and federal recovery programs Guidance on the disaster recovery process Referrals to other community resources and services FEMA representatives and state and local agencies will be available to provide information on aid programs along with FEMA registration and claims. The center will be open daily from 8am-7pm.
