CHARLOTTE, N.C. – I-77 northbound is closed in southwest Charlotte due to a tractor trailer on fire, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.
The highway is closed at Westinghouse Boulevard near I-485. Traffic is backed up in both directions with the northbound lanes congested into South Carolina near the Gold Hill Road exit.
The fire is expected to cause significant delays. Drivers are asked to seek an alternate route at this time.
No injuries have been reported.
I-77 is expected to reopen around 1:15 p.m., according to the NCDOT.
