LANGHORNE, Pa. — The Central Bucks South football team is the one to beat in District 1 Class 6A. Quarterback Owen Pinkerton ran for two touchdowns, threw for another and the Titans pulled away from Neshaminy in the second half for a 35-7 victory on Friday night at Harry E. Franks Stadium in a possible playoff preview. CB South (9-0) made sure it kept hold of the top spot in the the Class 6A PowerPoints, while also securing at least a share of the SOL National title. The Titans can claim the outright crown with a victory next week against Pennridge. Neshaminy (6-3) started the night in the eighth spot in the playoff chase and was hoping to make a big leap by scoring the upset. It started well for the ‘Skins when Carter Clee gave them a 7-0 lead with 3:27 left in the first quarter, but that was the last highlight for the Homecoming crowd. The Titans began gashing the Neshaminy defense on the ground and tied it on Pinkerton’s 22-yard touchdown run. The ‘Skins drove into the red zone on their next possession, but failed to convert a 4th-and-5 and CB South answered with a long scoring march that was capped off by Braylen Cape’s 19-yard run. Needing a stop at the start of the third quarter to stay in the game, Neshaminy couldn’t get it. Pinkerton completed a 31-yard pass to Eddie Bowen that set up a first-and-goal, and then finished it himself with a two-yard dash around the left end. The Titans defense also tightened up after allowing Clee to rush for 72 yards in the first half. Neshaminy gained just 15 yards in the second half before the back ups for both teams came in. Pinkerton hit Danny Gies on a 41-yard touchdown with 2:27 left in the third quarter for a 28-7 lead and Cape (7-for-59, 2 TDs) put the cherry on top with his second touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Pinkerton completed 6-of-10 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 132 yards. Neshaminy hosts arch rival Pennsbury next week in the regular-season finale. Improving to 4-5, Pennsbury quickly jumped out to a 28-0 lead behind a strong running game and its defense completely shut down the Ghosts all night. Kaiden Brown ran for three touchdowns and Jordan Brensinger rushed for two. Pennsbury will be at Neshaminy (6-3) next Friday night. Neshaminy is already in the playoffs, but Pennsbury would be as well if it beats the Redskins.
