BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Homecoming weekend is already in full swing at Indiana University tonight. It all comes to a head Saturday afternoon when the Hoosiers will attempt to keep their undefeated football season intact. On Friday night, people crowded together on campus streets to watch the university's homecoming parade. There was plenty of excitement among alums, people who live in Bloomington and of course the future generation of IU fans. Streets echoed loud and proud as every note and beat of the drum from IU's Marching Hundred stirred energy within the crowd.  "We both graduated from here in 2017," described alum Jake Flagg. "We all came down to be together for homecoming weekend." Homecoming Weekend marks a weekend of return for many in cream and crimson.  "You know it’s been a while, but this campus is amazing," alum Grant Koechel said. "It was really neat when I was here a while ago, but it’s even neater now so it’s really cool to see how much it’s changed." Every cheer and smile during Friday night's parade celebrates a weekend of family time, reunion and spirit for Hoosiers young and old.  "We love to be back on campus," said Alex Flagg. "Remember all of our good memories and love the energy of homecoming. There’s lots of people here lots of stuff to do." It is also a special weekend for the university's students. "It is definitely a time to connect with some of the alumni and talk to some of the other students," said IU freshman Zaviel Taubfeld. "And you know it’s just a good time overall." The weekend festivities and parade excitement also create a new level of enthusiasm for IU's next generation.  "My brothers have been walking me around today, just showing me where they have been going to classes and things," said Jackson Koechel. "It’s kind of like put a new perspective on college for me." That even includes baby Hoosiers, like the Flagg family's young children. "It’s fun to pass it along to the kids and point out different places where we used to go," Jake Flagg said. "So yeah, it's exciting to have the next generation here as well." The parade also is pure entertainment for many little Hoosiers. "We’ve come to this parade every year and it’s just been super sweet to kind of see a different side of IU homecoming through eyes of kids," described IU alum Kaitlyn Lattimer, who was with her family and young kids. There might even be more energy this year as the No. 16 ranked Hoosiers are now 6-0 halfway through the season. They now prepare to face off against Nebraska.  "It is pretty darn exciting," described Grant Koechel. "We were talking about it the other day. It’s always been fun to watch, but it’s even more fun seeing them win now. So it's neat to see what the coach is doing and what the team is doing." "The only word you can use to describe it is electric," Taubfeld said. "Chills. Literal chills every time I walk into the stadium. The Rock is always packed. It’s the place to be on a Saturday evening." IU's game against Nebraska kicks off Saturday at noon in Bloomington.
