NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) Charleston County Board of Elections is expecting recording breaking turnout for early voting. They say this is due to the convenience for voters allowing them to vote when and where they choose. "You get to set the time and place you want to cast your ballot. You get to make that decision. On election day you only have one location you go to which is your place, so the benefit is you get to pick the time and location," said Issac Cramer, the Executive Director of the Charleston County Board of Elections. Anyone is able to go to one of Charleston county's several voting locations from 8:30 am to 6pm. They expect peak hours of early voting to be between 10am and 2pm so they recommend voting before of after those hours toa avoid the wait. Cramer says they are prepared for an influx of people. "We've hired practically 20 people per location we're fully staffed fully trained for two weeks, very confident we have more equipment than we’ve ever had a at a location another great thing about early voting we can respond in the moment to it if one location has a higher turnout we can respond more resources there. On election day that’s not really feasible with 104 polling places so early voting gives a great chance to serve the voters especially if there is an influx at a certain place," said Cramer. Before heading to the polls, election officials recommend looking at your sample ballot. You will also need to bring a photo ID. "Be vote ready, go to SCvotes and look at your sample and make sure you registration is up to date, and then when you head to your early voting location all you need is a valid current ID," said Cramer. There are several early voting locations in Charleston county, and across the low country. We have a full list of them here.
