BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — University at Buffalo linebacker Shaun Dolac has received midseason All-America recognition from The Associated Press and CBS Sports for his performance so far this season. Dolac, a former walk-on from West Seneca in his fifth year with UB, also has been added to the midseason watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award given to the nation's most outstanding defensive player. Through six games, Dolac leads the nation with 87 tackles. He also has three sacks among his 11.5 tackles for loss, second most in NCAA Division I FBS, along with two interceptions. Three times this season Dolac has been selected as Mid-American Conference defensive player of the week. UB Bulls at midseason: Leading the MAC, on schedule for bowl trip UB is 4-2 and leading the MAC at 2-0 under new coach Pete Lembo going into Saturday's homecoming game against Western Michigan. The Bulls have already exceeded their win total from last season when Dolac sustained a season-ending injury in the fourth game. Two years ago, Dolac was a first-team All-MAC pick after ranked second in the country with 147 tackles. He finished that season with 13.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, while his 97 solo stops set a team record and ranked first among FBS players. Dolac currently ranks 11th in school history with 310 tackles, 18 from overtaking all-time great Khalil Mack for a top 10 position.
