BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office terminated three deputies working security at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison following an investigation.
Elijah Christopher, 25, Julius Conner Jr., 25, and Noah Jenkins, 23, were arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. They are charged with malfeasance in office and simple battery.
On June 5, Conner asked for a single cell housing an inmate to be opened. The inmate, who was already handcuffed in front of his body, reportedly exited the cell. According to the affidavit, Jenkins sprayed the inmate with Freeze +P, which is a brand of pepper spray, as he stood on the wall.
According to the affidavit, the inmate was sprayed in the face, which distressed him, causing instant eye closure. Conner pushed the inmate back into his cell and sprayed him again.
Christopher then placed the pepper spray in his pocket before he yelled at the inmate and hit him in the face and head repeatedly. According to the affidavit, Conner also struck the inmate multiple times.

Conner then reportedly removed the inmate's sleeping mat and blanket by throwing them into the hallway. Christopher ran back into the inmate's cell and hit the inmate in the head and face, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit stated, "At no time did the inmate resist, attempt to fight or act in an aggressive manner towards any of the deputies." The inmate was escorted out of the cell to an unknown location, according to the affidavit.
Christopher is also accused of his involvement in two separate incidents that took place on July 18 and Aug. 29, according to the affidavit.
Christopher was with the sheriff's office in corrections for around five years, Conner was there for about nine months, and Jenkins was there for about 3.5 years, according to EBRSO.
